Here we are again!

Another anthology call from AC, and I trot out another story from my Cassidyverse.

This time, I got to dive into the backstory of a pair of secondary characters who, honestly, don’t get much page time, which I probably ought to correct one of these years. Okay, I have to give you some backstory here so you have context.

My main character through most of the books is Kendra Cassidy, and she’s determined to pull humanity into space; specifically, to the stars. In the process, she ends up irritating the Solarian Union and has to fight them off, leading her to create a navy. But she’s a retired actress and assassin (don’t ask), and doesn’t know the first thing about military protocol. When the best commander for a new starship is Kiri, and the best available engineer is her wife, Lorelei, Kendra doesn’t blink. She makes it happen, protocol be damned.

For this anthology, I thought it would be fun to go back and find out how they started. It’s mentioned, briefly, when I introduced Kiri, but there’s nothing like the detail you get here.
